Connecting two cities takes a bridge and bridging two Guards took me a few clicks. Let me explain chronologically.
The first of the two Guards is named Christopher, who is my childhood hero from the British TV series Return to Treasure Island (1986) wherein he played Jim Hawkins. I was in the elementary school and around 12 when the show was aired in my part of the world. It was some 15 years later that I found out Jim’s real-life name – Christopher Guard – thanks to the internet.
Fast-forward another 16 years, I stumbled upon the psychological thriller Absolution (1978) by Anthony Page with Richard Burton playing the lead and a boy named Dominic playing an important character. Six more years down the road I happened to see the classic Australian mystery Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975). Dominic had a notable role here too and I just happened to read his full name Dominic Guard.
It was impossible to connect the two guards in my mind at this time – like two British actors with the last name Guard. What are the chances of the two Guards connected? Found out they were – a few clicks in the virtual space revealed the two Guards are brothers. Both have good acting credits and seem to have prospered in their respective careers later in life.
